About meThe first game I remember seeing was Contra on the NES. It was at my cousin's birthday party, he and his brother managed to finish Contra with only 3 lives each. I remember being extremely enthralled and excited at this new and amazing thing before me. I was around 5 or 6 at the time. From that day on, I realised that this is what I wanted to do for a living, that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I came one step closer to achieving my dream when I completed my BA (Hons) in Game Design and Production Management from one of the best institutes for game design, University of Abertay Dundee, Scotland. I worked on several projects during my time there, both curricular and extra-curricular, to hone my skills as a game designer. One of the things I love doing is experimenting with mechanics. I like to see what can be done with mechanics to deliver a unique player experience. I play a lot of games, on different platforms, ranging from web based games (like from Armourgames, Miniclip, etc) to Console/PC games, taking certain gameplay mechanics from all, and try to mix them together to prepare some sort of concoction of various mechanics and gameplay elements, and then testing whether the end product delivers the kind of experience I had initially envisioned. I also take inspiration from other forms of media, such as movies, art, music, and so on. I have a keen interest in concept development, and level design. I have working knowledge on the most popular level editors, namely Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, Game Maker, to name a few. I also have working knowledge on Maya, Mudbox, and Photoshop. When I'm not working on games, I write. I've got my own personal blog, where I write about various topics (flakycushion.wordpress.com). I also enjoying playing and watching football, coin collecting, traveling, and reading. |
